  •  Head Lice, If Limited To The Neck And Scalp

Step-1 Is It Scabies? 

Look For Papules In Interdigital Folds, Buttocks And Genitals. Ask For Itching In Any Other Member Of The Family. 


Treatment - 
1. Benzyle Benzoate. 2. Gamma Benzene Hexachloride. 3. Antihistaminic. 4. Antibiotic. 5. On The Last Day Of Treatment, collect all clothes, towels and bed linen in a large vessel and boil them in soap water - to prevent reinfection. 6. For total eradication of infection, all family members should be treated simultaneously.  

Step-2 is it associated with urticarial rash? 

Ask for history of any tablets or drugs taken. Any change in food, or any insect bites. Treat as for urticaria. 

Step 3. Is it related to weather? 

    1- Dry skin; cracking & itching in winter: 

Treatment-  
1. Rub oil into the skin before bath & at night. Everyday.  
2. Apply vaselin or petroleum jelly to cracked skin.  
3. Tab avil.  
4. Cetrizine. 

   2- prickly heat in summer: 

Treatment- 
1. Increase frequency of bath.   
2. Sprinkle nycil powder. Particularly over chest & back & affected area.  
3. Antihistaminic Cetrizine.  
4. Apply 6% sodabicarb solution * 2 times/day * 2 weeks.

  •  Check blood sugar for diabetes.
